Nation: Empire of France
Capital: Paris
Leader(s): Emperor Napoleon IV
After the republic was reclaimed by Napoleon III in the name of the second empire. The Empire expanded its claim to multiple areas of the world. In a successful attempt to supplant the French monarchy, imperialists provided weapons to groups in French colonies to limit the resources that would be generated by these territories, including the Emir of Algeria who would later become the acting governors of the territories. He accepted America’s repayment of Mexico’s Debt allowing the resources to be put towards lifting Algeria and other areas of the empire. These funds and territories provided resources and Soldiers to the empire and allowed it to push and claim additional land in the Franco-Prussian war. Napoleon IV was handed control of the Empire when his father was assassinated in 1875. Under the unofficial instruction of the emperor, the military has lead expeditions into the hole in Provence as news of similar holes leading to new territories had started to be heard in his court. The Empire’s goal is to stake claim to land for its citizens and to start new colonies.
Though not an official legion, the Étrangère Aéronautique or Foreign Aeronautics Corp are made up of soldiers and pilots who fight in the name of France but come from other countries with the hope of gaining citizenship upon completion of their tour or to claim “French by spilled blood”. Similar to the foreign legion, soldiers leave behind their identities and nationalities from before their service and are given new names and birthplaces, not only allowing them to leave their pasts behind them, but to also not be linked to the Empire of France in the event of capture. If corpsmen are captured and they do provide their captors with information that links them to the empire, their case is destroyed as well as any chance that they have of becoming French citizens. For this reason, Corpsmen will die fighting instead of being captured and would rather be executed than risk their opportunity.
Game Play:
The Étrangère Aéronautique have a focus on ship combat with large quantities of explosives for taking down opposing ships.
Similarly, the Corpsman of the Étrangère Aéronautique (made up of engineers, pioneers and legionaires) are equipped for the task of either repairing or disabling ships. Equipped with bombs and axes, they are prepared for dealing certain damage and disabling ships as well as wrenches for repairing their own. Their pioneers allow for rerolls for bombs increasing the damage that they can deal while the poilu veterans increase the damage that their crew can put out.
